Measures to stimulate frontline employees will be continued

The measures to stimulate the frontline public sector employees, primarily the medical personnel, will be continued. These include the provision of an additional base salary and of a lump sum of 16,000 lei if these employees contract the novel coronavirus while on duty, Prime Minister Ion Chicu announced after the last meeting of the Commission for Exceptional Situations held in the evening of May 15, IPN reports.

The official said all the decisions will be taken on the platform of the National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health. To continue the support measures, a relevant bill is to be approved by the Government and to be submitted to Parliament.

The National Extraordinary Commission for Public Health, which took over the powers of the Commission for Exceptional Situations, declared a public health emergency for the period between May 16 and June 30. The restrictions imposed earlier were mainly kept and their violation will be punished criminally and administratively.

The infections with the novel coronavirus in Moldova now total 5,745. Of those infected, 2,280 got cured. The death toll from COVID-19 stands at 202.
