The examination of the draft decision concerning the designation of the members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was postponed until February 11 following a request made by the Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu, Info-Prim Neo reports.
After the February 10 sitting of the legislature, Mihai Ghimpu said there is an internal problem that should be discussed within the alliance. He did not specify what kind of problem.
Moldova's Acting President Marian Lupu on February 10 signed a decree, naming Andrei Volentir on the Central Election Commission.
Under the Election Code, the number of candidates fielded by the parliamentary groups is proportional to the number of seats of MP they hold.
The PLDM and PCRM will put forward by three candidates, while the PL and PDM by one. The ninth member of the CEC was designated by Acting President Marian Lupu.
The composition of the CEC is confirmed by Parliament decision by a majority vote. The members of the Commission are appointed for a five-year period.
