Two residents of Chisinau got 21 years and, respectively, 23 years in jail for murder, murder attempt and illegal carrying and keeping of firearms and ammunition, IPN reports. According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the case happened in an apartment building in Botanica district of Chisinau, at the City’s Gates, on January 7, 2018. A young man was shot dead, while another one was seriously hurt by two neighbors, who were father and son.
The victims, together with the families, gathered together to celebrate Christmas and the host’s birthday. When they went to the balcony to smoke, one of the young people spit out and the sputum accidentally fell onto a man who smoked together with his son at a balcony that was five floors below. A quarrel arouse, but the men returned to the holiday table.
In about an hour, the victims went out again to smoke. The two neighbors were waiting for them in the corridor. They were armed and opened fire. As a result, a man aged 25 died on the spot, while the host who just turned 27 was seriously wounded and was rushed to the hospital.
The police arrested the two aggressors – a man aged 56 and his 33-year-old son. Two guns and ammunition that were held illegally were seized.
The culprits were also obliged to pay 205,000 lei in respect of pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage to the successor of the injured party. The sentence can be challenged in a higher court.
