The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu is convinced that the head of state will be elected on December 16 if all the lawmakers of the AEI take part in the voting, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“This is how we govern. It is either raining or not, it is either good or bad,” Mihai Ghimpu answered when asked by the reporters if some of the MPs of the ruling alliance may not vote.
The Liberal leader said he counts on the votes of the lawmakers who realize that the early elections must be avoided. “The Liberal Party will respect the signed agreement and will accept no moves outside it. All the moves can be made within the alliance. There are all the votes needed to vote in the head of state,” Mihai Ghimpu said, without giving details.
Under the Constitution, the President is elected by at least 61 votes. The AEI parties hold 58 seats, the PCRM – 39, while the group of the Socialists – 3. There is also the unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea.
