The Liberals’ leader Mihai Ghimpu said it’s time to have a Government, but this thing is impossible until the Lib-Dems do not change their position.
After the consultations with President Nicolae Timofti, Mihai Ghimpu told the journalists that they hope the PLDM will return to the negotiations, alongside the PDM and PL, so as to identify a candidate for Prime Minister that can be nominated by the head of state and then voted in by Parliament, IPN reports.
“We agreed that it’s time to overcome the sociopolitical crisis and to form a Government. Regretfully, given that the PLDM remains on its old position, this is impossible now. We hope the PLDM will annul its decision and will take part in the negotiations together with the PL and PDM so that the President designates a candidate who will be supported by Parliament and the Government enjoys Parliament’s support in doing reforms,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
Asked if the future Premier could be an apolitical one, the leader of the Liberal Party said democracy supports political parties and the Government is a political institution.
According to Ghimpu, it is now important for the PLDM, PDM and PL to reach a consensus and choose a candidate for premiership as the appointment of a Cabinet will fail until there is no parliamentary majority. If the frustrations and anger are overcome, the candidate could be nominated even before the December 10 deadline announced by the PDM.
Also today, November 27, the head of state had consultations with the Democratic Party and is to have discussions with the Liberal Democratic Party. The Party of Communists and the Party of Socialists refused to take part in the consultations.
