The Liberal Party (PL) will enter the next Parliament, the party’s chairman Mihai Ghimpu stated in the talk show “People’s Council” on 10tv channel. The Liberal leader said the PL will gain votes on party lists and also in single-member constituencies and will anyway enter the legislature, IPN reports.
Mihai Ghimpu said he will accept representatives of civil society to run for them in single-member constituencies without these being members of the Liberal Party. “These representatives should do only one thing for the party – to ensure reciprocal support. We will support them as MPs chosen in constituencies and they should support the PL,” he noted.
As to the establishment of the single-member constituencies, Mihai Ghimpu said he didn’t see something like this even at the time of the Soviet Union. “Only Hitler and Stalin delimited such borders with Bessarabia, Romania, Poland as the Democratic Party did in relation to these constituencies,” stated the Liberal leader.
