The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu said he will give a news conference on July 18 and will make disclosures about the casino business and how the money that failed to be collected into the budget as a result of amendments to the legislation was shared, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We decided that we must discuss publicly so that the people know who is for reforms and who is against. I will not keep silent when the Liberal Party’s proposals are not supported in the ruling alliance,” said Mihai Ghimpu.
He stressed that he kept silent while he served as Head of Parliament and as Acting President so as not to make the alliance a target for mockery. “Now I will be direct and honest as I’ve always been. I do not want to guard the alliance when I see that the reform means replacing person “P” with person “F””, said Mihai Ghimpu.
In the summer of 2010, the legislative body decreased the tax for a gambling table in casinos from 360,000 to 180,000 lei. This February, the MPs voted in favor of restoring the old tax, arguing the amendments to the law on casinos caused damage of over 5 million lei to the budget. On April 15, there was created a parliamentary commission of inquiry into this case. The Liberal Party was represented by MP Valeriu Munteanu on the commission.
