Moldova’s European integration course was irremediably lost. On Friday, May 3, when the lawmakers of the PLDM and PCRM adopted a number of bills, this course was compromised, considers unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea, who heads the Democratic Action Party (PAD), IPN reports.
In the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, Mihai Godea said the developments were predictable and only the time when they would take place was unknown. “I realize what happens in the Moldovan politics. I don’t think that the vainglory, the personal or party interests can push one up to limits. The European organizations had a harsh reaction. There is joint effort, but they set the own house on fire and then threw each other into that fire,” he stated.
Acceding to the leader of the PAD, President Nicolae Timofti could do something only within the AEI, but now he is disorientated and doesn’t know how to act. “Things went too far. The former allies pushed each other into the fire and it is too late. Europe’s gates closed because of the politicians. If the reforms done were similar to those implemented at the Ministry of the Interior and the National Anticorruption Center, there is nothing we can speak about,” said Mihai Godea.
For his part, Democratic MP Adrian Candu said that Moldova is blamed by the whole Europe and the PDM felt isolated in the struggle for the European values after those decisions were taken in Parliament. “I and my colleagues from the PDM felt betrayed. When we voted for the dismissal of the Government we had clear reasons. We received dozens of messages from Europe on Friday evening,” he stated.
He also said that if Nicolae Timofti promulgates the laws adopted by the PLDM and PCRM, the PDM has nothing to speak about with the possible candidate for premiership.
