The MP also submitted a legislative initiative in Parliament, which was worked out with the aim of clearly and efficiently regulating the procedures for examining the candidates for the presidency. “The bill says that after the candidates are registered officially, biographical data and information about the property and incomes, securities and personal interests of the candidates must be published in the media and on the Parliament’s official website. The special commission is obliged to present in Parliament information about the results of the examinations performed in accordance with the law on the examination of the persons holding public posts and the candidates for such posts,” says the communiqué. According to the PAD leader, the ensuring of transparency and public informing about the presidential candidates is necessary in order to prevent and combat corruption in the public authorities, prevent persons who represent a threat to the national security interests from occupying public posts, establishing the authenticity of the information stated in the filed documents, etc. On October 24, the PAD launched a public call to ensure legality and transparency in the process of electing the President of Moldova, saying formal minimum requirements are imposed on the candidates for the presidency.
