Mihai Poalelungi will be proposed for Supreme Court of Justice president

The Supreme Council of Magistrates decided to put judge Mihai Poalelungi forward for the post of president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I expected I will be elected, but wasn’t so sure. I hoped I will be elected,” Mihai Poalelungi said after the results of the contest to fill the post of Supreme Court of Justice president were announced. Mihai Poalelungi pledged to contribute to the improvement of the judiciary system. “The image of justice in Moldova is at a low level. They say the legal system is affected by corruption and the case law is different and unclear for the people and judges,” he stated. The judge also said that for justice to be efficient, judges’ salaries should be raised, the judiciary discipline and access to justice should be improved and the judge’s work facilitated. Former president of the Supreme Court of Justice Ion Muruianu, who also took part in the contest, said that Mihai Poalelungi is a professional. Before taking up his duties, Mihai Poalelungi is to be confirmed by Parliament.
