The new school curriculum development concept, the general vision of which is to align the national curriculum with the needs of the labor market and ensure the competitiveness of Moldovan students at the international level, has been put up for public debate until August, the Ministry of Education and Research announced.

The novelty of this concept is in the flexibility of the school curriculum, to increase the relevance of studies according to the needs, skills and interests of students, but also for better adaptation to the demands of the labor market. Schools will offer a smaller number of subjects, but they will be taught in more depth. Students will have the opportunity to choose the subjects of study according to their abilities and future interests.

Among the expected results is the increase in student performance through the application of new, flexible framework plans, centered on student interests and curricula with more interdisciplinary elements that will stimulate the development of a wider spectrum of skills and abilities relevant in the current global context.

Following consultation with all stakeholders, the reference framework of the national curriculum, the (alternative) education framework plans, the new generations of curricula and all related curriculum products will be developed.

According to the proposed timeframe, the new curriculum would be implemented in schools in 2027.
