Ministry of Education wants to help graduates take up jobs in schools and kindergartens

The Ministry of Education and Research wants to help people who have a degree that allows them to teach a school subject to get a job in a school or kindergarten. Young specialists, graduates of bachelor’s or master’s programs, assigned by competition, will receive allowances. To participate in the distribution contest, those interested should apply until June 23, and the results will be announced on June 30.

The young specialists assigned through the competition will receive a one-time allowance of 160 thousand lei or 200 thousand lei, depending on the diploma they have. They will also get compensation of 4,000 lei annually to buy didactic materials and equipment.

In the first 5 years working in rural or district schools, young specialists will receive monthly housing allowances of 1000 lei, and annual energy bill relief compensation of 3000 lei. Another benefit is 62 calendar days of annual leave, as well as assistance from a teaching mentor during the first 5 years.

According to the Ministry, 1879 teaching positions are currently vacant. The biggest shortage of teachers is in the municipality of Chisinau, where there are 520 vacancies out of 1879. The capital is followed by the Gagauz autonomy – 127 positions, and Ungheni district – 97 positions. The biggest shortages of teaching staff are for the specialties of mathematics– 272 , preschool pedagogy – 251, educator – 138, Romanian language and literature – 130, physics – 116, etc.
