A guide to medical integrity, intended for medical workers as well as patients, was launched at a public event held on October 7 at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection. According to Minister Ala Nemerenco, this guide will help medical workers understand what is and what is not allowed.
"When medical workers know what is prohibited, then they will think twice before taking decisions that may affect their integrity", Ala Nemerenco told journalists at the event. "The role of the guide is to change the way of thinking, starting with the leaders of the medical institutions, where corruption usually starts", said Ala Nemerenco. The minister claimed that the guide, jointly applied with other measures, such as salary increases, could stop the phenomenon of corruption in medical institutions.
Lidia Chireoglu, deputy director of the National Anticorruption Center, said that the guide addresses in a complex manner the topic of medical ethics. "The use of the guide will help reduce corruption in medical institutions", said Lidia Chireoglu.
The Moldovan guide to medical integrity was developed with the support of the European Union and implemented with the support of the Council of Europe.
