The veterans of the Ministry of the Interior and of the Nistru war of 1992 call on the people who take part in protests to have an appropriate conduct and show respect for the police officers who maintain public order and security during the street demonstrations. In a news conference at IPN on June 27, Constantin Busuioc, vice president of the Public Organization of Veterans and Pensioners of the Ministry of the Interior, read an appeal calling on the protested not to provoke the police officers on duty into acts of violence.

Constantin Busuioc said the events that happened in Chisinau during the last few days cannot leave those who struggled for Moldova’s independence and sovereignty indifferent. The police are on duty and have the obligation to protect the property of the state and the citizens, regardless of their political beliefs. “From our own experience, we know that since the declaration of independence society has witnessed many provocations, but these were solved namely owing to the police,” stated Constantin Busuioc, reading the appeal.

The appeal says that during the protests mounted until now, the police officers were insulted and attempts were made to use force against the police. The veterans condemn such acts and say that if need be, they reserve the right to support the police in maintaining public order and security. “We are near the colleagues who honorably fulfil their duties,” said Constantin Busuioc.

A call was also made to the veterans who take part in the protests. These were asked to be an example for the young generation, to not allow the protesters to affront the police officers who do their job and to not use violation against these. The people were requested to protest peacefully and not to forget that the law is one for all.
