Minor dies from flu

A girl aged 12 from Hancesti district died from the A(H1N1) flu virus on February 18. The information was confirmed for IPN by the vice director of the National Public Health Center Stefan Gheorghita. According to him, the child is the tenth victim who died of flu so far this epidemic season.

Stefan Gheorghita said the girl got sick on February 11. She had fever 39 degrees Celsius and suffered from weakness. She was admitted to the Hancesti district hospital in four days only. The girl’s state of health worsened on February 16. The same day, she was transferred to the Mother and Child Center in Chisinau by the Aviasan service. She was hospitalized with bilateral pneumonia and pleurisy on the right side. In a day, the doctors confirmed the presence of the A(H1N1) flu virus. She died from post-influenza destructive bilateral pneumonia. 

According to Stefan Gheorghita, it is essential to see a doctor on the first symptoms of the disease as the flu virus has an acute start.

This is the second case of death because of flu among children this season. The first victim was a child aged four months from Balti, who suffered from a congenital heart disease.
