“Mir” aims to broadcast television in digital format in Moldova

The interstate television company “Mir”intends to start airing programs in digital format in Moldova until 2015, members of the company's Board of Directors, who are in Chisinau on a working visit, announced in a news conference on Tuesday, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Ion Terguta, director of the “Mir” branch in Moldova, said that the company's top priority in the region is to obtain the status of local broadcaster and to cover all the settlements.
On Monday, the delegation of the company had a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat and discussed possibilities of identifying financial resources for implementing the proposed projects. According to the delegation, the Government of Moldova expressed readiness to cooperate.
“The company “Mir” is one of the kind as it transmits news about Moldova in other CIS member states and vice versa. We try not to interfere in the internal policy of the states where we broadcast and make effort to present the news as it is, without connotations,” said Ion Terguta.
The interstate company “Mir” was founded in 1992 by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine. The company's head office is in Moscow. Russian is the official broadcasting language. Currently, “Mir” employs 1,200 persons.
