The members of the polling place set up in Varnita village of Anenii Noi district could not take the mobile ballot box to the penitentiaries in Bender because the Transnistrian militia blocked their access.
The polling place’s head Ludmila Caragea has told IPN that the militia allowed the persons to enter the Transnistrian region, but without the ballot box. In the previous elections, the members of the polling place faced the same problems. Both of their attempts to take the mobile ballot box to the Bender penitentiaries failed.
In the two penitentiaries of Bender – No. 8 and No. 12 – there are about 170 prisoners eligible to vote.
