The rise in incomes on the electronic communications market this year will be ensured mainly by the higher sales of fixed and mobile Internet access services, director of the national ICT regulator (ANRCETI) Grigore Varanita said in a news conference. According to forecasts, the incomes on the electronic communications market will total 6.7 – 6.8 billion lei, while the share of Internet services is projected to rise by 15-20%, IPN reports.

“The incomes on the mobile telephone market will remain at the same level as in 2013. This market reached maturity and thus the growth rate of sales slowed down. On the other hand, the customers use voice services through alternative devices, computers and Smartphone,” stated Grigore Varanita.

The sales on the fixed-line phone market are forecast to decrease by 4%. “The negative dynamic on this market forms part of the global stagnation trend in the use of fixed-line phones following the use of more convenient and cheap services, such as mobile telephone, Skype, Viber and others,” added Varanita.

The sales on the electronic communications market in 2013 rose by 5.7% on 2012, to 6.6 million lei. More than half of the sales were sales of mobile telephone services, though the given market grew by only 0.2% on 2012. The incomes from the sale of fixed-line telephone services represented 16.8% of all the sales, of fixed internet and data transfer services – 13.25%, of audiovisual programs broadcasting services – 5.1%, while of mobile Internet – 3.91%. The incomes from other activities in the electronic communications sector totaled 8.19%.
