The last report by the Electronic Press Association (APEL) prepared as part of a project to monitor the presence of the political players at TV channels during the post-electoral period shows most of the channels covered the PCRM to a lesser extent. The Alliance for European Integration (AEI) outran the former ruling party, whose rating is now going down. In a news conference at Info-Prim Neo on Tuesday, project coordinator Vasile State said the televised programs covered the political players in a more equitable way, though they are less pluralistic than in September. The report is based on the results of the monitoring carried out at nine TV channels during October 1-30. According to the report, for the first time during the entire monitoring period, Moldova 1 joined such channels as ProTV, TV7, TVC 21 and Eu TV in giving priority to the members of the AEI. As usual, NIT covered mainly one player - the PCRM. However, the PCRM continues to enjoy the greatest attention on the television. It is followed by the PLDM, PDM and PL. The AMN is the least visible parliamentary party and is slightly outrun by the extra-parliamentary party UCM. Among politicians, Vlad Filat appeared most of the time on television – 76 times. Marian Lupu and Mihai Ghimpu appeared 54 times on TV in the same period. The monitoring project of APEL has come to an end. It was one of the longest in Moldova. The project was financed by the European Commission’s Office in Moldova under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights and was implemented as part of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections – Coalition 2009.
