The Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of Belgium have signed an agreement to provide social security benefits such as age pensions, disability pensions and survivor's pensions, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family.
The Agreement was signed by Valentina Buliga, Moldova's Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family, and Laurette Onkelinx, Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health.
Valentina Buliga said the agreement regulates the bilateral legal framework in the field of social security. The Agreement is built on the principle of equality: the citizens of a contracting state are treated the same as the citizens of the other contracting state. The Agreement also provides that each contracting state will pay the part of the pension calculated for the contribution period that occurred within its territory.
Moldova has similar social security agreements with 7 other states.
