Three young persons from Moldova won scholarships provided by the German Bundestag within the International Parliamentary Scholarship Program. During five months, they will work together with German MPs and will study at universities in Berlin, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The fact that Moldova takes part in this program is a sign that the country comes closer to Europe. After we had interviews with the Moldovan applicants, we ascertained that the young people want to become involved in decision making in the country and are interested in politics,” German lawmaker Mechthild Rawet said in a news conference in Chisinau.
The project involves 120 young people from 28 countries. Moldova has taken part in the program since 2008. Twelve Moldovans have benefited from parliamentary scholarship since then, by three every year.
“Sixteen applications have been filed this year. Eight young persons were invited to the interview, but only three were selected out of them. We are glad that the young persons are interested in the project. We guarantee that it will continue and the Moldovan young people will be able to apply for scholarship next year as well,” said the deputy head of the German Embassy in Moldova Carsten Wilms.
Berthold Gries, division head in the administration of the Bundestag, said the three winners benefit from a monthly scholarship of €450. The Bundestag will cover the travel and accommodation expenses. The program participants will be able to travel and visit different organizations and foundations in Germany.
The applications can be submitted to the German Embassy each year, starting with December. More information about the program is available on www. bundestag.de. The applicants must be under 30, have higher education and know German.
