Moldova is a European country even if it is not part of the EU, while its prospects are rather good, Czech Deputy Foreign Minister Tomáš Dub said at the end of his visit to Chisinau on September 30, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“My visit to Moldova has lasted for two days and I managed to meet with my Moldovan counterpart and to check how projects financed by the Czech Republic in Moldova are implemented. We spoke about projects planned for the future,” said the Czech official.
Tomáš Dub stressed that Moldova tops the list of non-EU member countries where the Czech Republic supports projects in healthcare, agriculture, the environment, and water supply and sewerage.
“The Czech Republic is interested in implementing as many projects in Moldova as possible so as to pave the way for Czech investors to come to Moldova,” said Tomáš Dub.
He also said that the Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat is to pay a visit to the Czech Republic this autumn. High-ranking Czech officials may then pay a visit to Moldova. “We hope that Moldovan businessmen will come to the Czech Republic together with Vlad Filat to present their products and services and attract our investors,” said the Czech official.
In another development, he said that Moldova faces many problems as other counties and the Moldovan economy can be compared with that of some of the EU member states, but all the projected reforms should be implemented and effort should be made to solve the economic problems.
According to Tomáš Dub, the Czech financial assistance from which Moldova will benefit within the Cooperation and Development Program will total about €9 million over the next three years.
