Moldova restated its official position as regards the necessity of finishing the pullout of Russian troops and munitions from its territory at Fourth Conference to Review the Operation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) held in Vienna on September 29, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said the main subjects for discussion were the situation created after Russia imposed a moratorium on the implementation of the Treaty in 2007 and the ways of breaking the impasse.
Moldova’s delegation confirmed its commitment to the obligations and rules laid down by the CFE Treaty and stressed the necessity of transforming the current peacekeeping operation working in the security zone in Transnistria into a internationally-mandated multinational civil mission.
The conference was chaired by Moldova according to the principle of rotation. The Moldovan delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Popov.
