Moldova, Russia sign cultural cooperation protocol

The Ministry of Culture of Moldova and the Ministry of Culture of Russia signed a cooperation protocol on the organization of the Russian Culture Days in Moldova and, respectively, of Moldova’s Days in Russia, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Since the end of 2008, we have not held the Russian Culture Days in Moldova. We think our citizens want cultural events involving Russian personalities to be organized in Moldova,” Russian Ambassador to Moldova Valery Kuzimin said in a news conference held after the protocol signing ceremony. Minister of Culture Boris Focsa informed that the proposal to sign such a protocol was put forward by the Ministry of Culture of Russia. “The initiative appeared last year, when we attended the meeting of CIS ministers of culture. The existing cooperation agreement has been ignored and we thus decided to organize an exchange of artists within the Culture Days,” said Boris Focsa. He also said that Moldova’s Days will take place in Russia next May. There will be prepared an extensive program of festivities. The Russian Culture Days in Moldova that will be held between September 20 and 26 will include artistic and cultural events, roundtable meetings, and exhibitions in Chisinau, Tiraspol, Balti, and Comrat. Entrance will be free of charge.
