Moldova supplied with 200,000 doses of influenza vaccine

The Republic of Moldova received a batch of 200,000 doses of influenza vaccine “Influvac Tetra”, with a dose of 0.5 ml in a pre-filled syringe, The vaccine was stored at the National Vaccine Warehouse of the National Public Health Agency and is to be distributed to local public health centers, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, the flu vaccine “Influvac Tetra” offers protection against seasonal flu caused by viruses A(H1N1), A(H3N2) and B.

After the batch is distributed to the local public health centers, doses will be delivered to the national healthcare institutions for the vaccination of personnel from professional contingents and groups at high risk for influenza, according to the immunization plan.

The composition of this vaccine complies with the recommendations of the World Health Organization.

The lot was purchased with funds provided by the National Health Insurance Company.

According to specialists, vaccination is the safest and most effective method of preventing infection with flu. The benefits of vaccination include the diminution of the risk of severe forms of the disease, reduction in the number of cases of illness, of visits to the doctor and days lost from work or studies. Vaccination also helps prevent flu-related complications, hospitalizations, and deaths.

The Ministry of Health recommends concomitant vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 to ensure protection against both infections that are characteristic of the cold season.
