Moldova will implement a single national emergency call system “112” if the Government approves the implementation strategy and identifies the necessary financial resources.
Alexandru Oprea, deputy head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, told Info-Prim Neo that the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the Special Telecommunications Center, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Information Technology, and SA Moldtelecom have worked on the given strategy for more than one year. It is being finalized and will be submitted to the Government for approval.
According to Alexandru Oprea, the modern system directs all the emergency calls towards a dispatcher's office. The place from where the call is made and the name of the phone number owner will be identified immediately. The system enables interconnecting all the emergency services needed in a certain case, like the fire brigade, ambulance and police.
The single national emergency call system “112” will be implemented at a cost of €8-11 million.
