The Republic of Moldova will take out a loan from the World Bank to improve hydrometeorological services and to strengthen institutions in order to respond to emergency situations. The amount of the loan is US$40 million, IPN reports.

A sum of US$29 million will be invested in strengthening institutions for emergency response. Another US$6 million will be earmarked for improving hydrometeorological services, while US$3 million will go to reduce critical infrastructure risks and fiscal resilience.

The period of validity of the Loan Agreement is five years. To put this into practice, three implementation agreements are to be signed with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

After negotiation and signing, the ratification of the Agreement will be proposed for examination in the plenary session of Parliament.
