The national under-21 squad lost the third consecutive match of the 2013 European Championship qualifiers. On October 7, they were humiliated in Tiraspol by Russia’s team 0-6, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The guests marked by 3 goals in every half. Dinamo Moscow halfback Alexandr Kokorin, who scored three goals, was the hero of the game. Oleg Shatov scored two goals, while Anton Sosnin one goal. Both of the teams finished the match with one player fewer after Alexandru Leu and Arseni Logashov were sent off.
“I am ashamed for this result. I take the entire blame,” Moldova manager Sergiu Chirilov said after the match.
“I expected the game will be harder, but it wasn’t,” said the Russian team’s coach Nikolai Pisarev.
Moldova now rank last in the group with no point. Russia top the rankings with six points scored.
In the previous qualification campaign, Moldova lost both of the games to Russia 1-3 and 0-3.
The Under-21 team of Moldova will play the next matches away against Poland on November 10 and against Portugal on November 14.
