Moldova U17s finished the bottom side in the qualification mini-tournament for the 2012 European Championship, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Tricolors lost all three games.
The last match was a 2-0 defeat to Bulgaria at Vadul-lui-Voda. The Moldovans conceded twice in the space of 5 minutes halfway through second half.
At the post-match press conference, the hosts’ coach Veaceslav Rusnac lamented his players’ game. “We played really poorly. We’ll enter the history books for not winning a single point in front of our own supporters”, declared Rusnac.
In the other match of the group, Sweden bested Georgia 2-0. Despite the result, both countries qualified for the next round.
Moldova U17s’ best result was achieved in 2002, when the team reached the final tournament of the European Championship.
At the end of October, Moldova will host the qualification round for women’s U17 European Championship. The hosts play in Group 5, alongside France, Wales and the Faeroes.
