Moldova wants to intensify Strategic Dialogue with U.S.

Moldova pleads for the intensification of the Strategic Dialogue with the United States that was launched in Washington this March, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said in a meeting with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rubin, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, Iurie Leanca underlined the importance of continuing the economic cooperation and intensifying the commercial relations between the two states so as to ensure the Moldovan products’ access to the U.S. market and attract more American investments to the Moldovan economy. Moldova would like the U.S. financial support in different areas to be extended, especially within the MCC’s Compact financed by the U.S. Government.

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State reiterated the United States’ readiness to offer Moldova assistance in building the rule of law, promoting reforms and ensuring economic development. The U.S. will help Moldova to ensure stability, predictability and security in the state and to protect its accomplishments on the European path. In this respect, the Strategic Dialogue will assist Moldova to overcome the internal and external challenges.

Eric Rubin is visiting Moldova from September 8 to 10. He will participate in the first principals meeting of the U.S.-Moldova Strategic Dialogue and will hold both bilateral consultations and meetings in his capacity as the U.S. representative to the 5+2 format negotiations. He will also meet with Moldovan high-ranking officials.
