In the last two years the situation of the road infrastructure in the country improved, and while 20 km of roads were rehabilitated in 2010, then in 2011 the figure rose to 50 km, and will be expected to rise to 120 km in 2012; starting from 2013 the target will be to rehabilitate 250 km of roads annually, stated Minister Anatol Salaru at a festive meeting dedicated to the Motorist and Road Worker Day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“For the first time we have started to use new technology in combination with advanced equipment. Presently Moldova has five installations that produce asphalt mixtures. One of the tasks for the next year will be to eliminate the need to talk about roads in very poor condition”, said the minister.
Attending the event, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said ensuring a modern road infrastructure was among the Government's priorities. “We have a set of established objectives and these objectives have financial coverage. The problem we face now is the absorption capacity as respects these funds”, said Vlad Filat. He also stated that in 2012 the Road Fund will have 1.1 billion lei that will have to translate in concrete projects and good roads.
The event also included a ceremony of handing the keys to 20 motor graders destined for roadworks companies in 15 districts. The equipment was bought for 120 million lei from China to repair roads and remove snow in winter.
