Romania's Nicolae Salade and Ioan Dejugan and Moldovan Constantin Ciobanu won gold medals at a philatelic exhibition-contest held in Chisinau on the occasion of 120 years of the foundation of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The exhibition includes collections of older and younger philatelists. Prizes were offered for a number of classes of stamps.
Constantin Bogdan, Aurel Ciobanu, Maria Godorozea and Vitalie Parfentie from Moldova and Vasile Doros, Dumitru Barabula and Gheorghe Bichicean from Romania were awarded silver medals.
Bronzes were given to Romanian Romeo Lucian Stoia and Moldovans Stefan Bolboceanu and Nicu Furculita.
“Any exhibition, besides being a cultural event, is an expression of courage. This exhibit represents Moldova's history. We want such events to become traditional,” said Minister of Culture Boris Focsa.
Eight Moldovan and six Romanian philatelists displayed their collections at the exhibition. The stamps include postal history stamps, thematic stamps, post card stamps etc.
A postal envelope and a stamp were launched on October 21 in connection with the celebration of 120 years of the foundation of the museum. The exhibit will be open until October 31.
