The grand arena of the Chisinau Circus on May 5 will host a concert by the band “Gandul Matei”, starting at 9am. Half of the proceeds will go to repair the building, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc said the grand arena will be laid out for this concert that will be accompanied by a circus performance. The renovation of the grand arena is a follow-up to the activities of 2014, when the small arena was opened after 10 years without performances.
Andrei Locoman, director of the National Palace and one of the authors of the initiative, said that despite the lack of access to the sewerage network and heating, the grand arena of the Circus is in a good state and does not face the risk of collapsing, as it has been rumored.
Soloist of the band “Gandul Matei” Nicu Tarna said the project “Light the Circus” will not be the sole one. Similar initiatives will be launched until autumn. “It is a chance for society to take this step and to come to the concert to support the renovation of the Circus,” he stated.
The organizers said the renovation costs will be determined as a result of a feasibility study. The project “Light the Circus” is supported financially by sponsors and partners.
