Moldovan biathletes show modest results at European Championship

Moldova's biathlete Alexandra Camenscic finished 41st in the individual 15km competition at the European Championship, which took place on Tuesday, January 31 in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia. With 7 missed targets, the Moldovan was 14 minutes behind winner Anastasia Zagoruiko of Russia, Info-Prim Neo reports. Alexandra Camenscic finished 50th in the sprint contest, but abandoned the pursuit competition. Victor Panzaru, participant in the 2010 Winter Olympics, was the best among juniors. The 19-year-old finished 39th and 36th in the sprint and pursuit competitions respectively. Other representatives of Moldova, Sveatoslav Maliutin, Liviu Dubalari, Nicolae Gaiduc and Dumitrita Ciobanu, had lackluster results. The best results of Moldovan biathlon were obtained by Natalia Levcenkov. She was ranked 8th at the 2006 Olympics and won the European Championship in 2008. In the spring of 2011, the Russian-born biathlete gave up representing Moldova in international competitions.
