Moldovan juniors return victorious from International Wushu Tournament

The Moldovan squad achieved goods results at the International Wushu Tournament “The Azov Sea Cup” held between July 10 and 12 in Ukraine. Moldova was represented by juniors of the Wu Dao Association headed by Master of Sports Nicolae Mihalache, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The sportsmen competed in the classical Wushu events: fist-play (quan shu), short weapon - broadsword-play (dao shu) and long weapon – staff-play (gun shu).
Andrei Cataraga won the gold medal in fist-play, Vladislav Somnic ranked second in broadsword-play, while Veaceslav Zabun ranked third in staff-play.
More than 200 sportspersons (14 teams) from Ukraine, Russia and Moldova participated in the International Wushu Tournament. The final will take place during September 25-27.
Wushu is a form of contemporary Chinese martial arts that blends elements of performance and martial application. Wushu training emphasizes quickness, explosive power, and natural, relaxed movement. The wushu practitioner must combine flexibility with strength, speed with flawless technique, fierce intent with effortless execution.
