The exchange rate of the Moldovan leu against the U.S. dollar in September decreased by 0.7% on average to 17.4471 USD/MDL, compared to 17.5747 USD/MDL in August, IPN reports.
The National Bank of Moldova said that in September, the degree of coverage of the net demand for foreign currency by economic agents through the net supply of foreign currency from individuals was 96.3%, as opposed to 85.4% in August.
Compared to the previous month, the net supply of foreign currency from individuals decreased by US$74.8 million (-20.3%), and the net demand for foreign currency from economic agents declined by US$126.7 million (-29.3%).
The central bank last month did not intervene on the local foreign exchange market.
