The men in Moldova might celebrate by one 'international holiday' less as Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca considers the multitude of holidays marked in Moldova is abnormal, Info-Prim Neo reports. At Monday's meeting of the Chisinau services and subdivisions, the mayor criticized the proposal of the City Hall's Law Division to institute the Men's Day and the Grandmother's Day, besides the ones enumerated in the bill on public holidays formulated by the Government. Dorin Chirtoaca said Moldova faces many problems and the number of holidays should be considerably decreased, at least to the number of holidays observed in the European Union. The bill on nonworking days, public holidays and vacations was worked out by the Government and is to be approved by the local authorities. The City Hall's Law Division approved the bill and formulated proposals. Dorin Chirtoaca asked the meeting participants to express their opinions about the institution of the Men's Day. It was reached that conclusion that such a holiday is unnecessary as the men can celebrate whenever they want. The bill envisions a longer winter vacation, between December 31 and January 8.
