The third Kiev International Film Festival, which will take place between September 17 and 22, includes the best social movies centering on topical issues, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Fedor Krat, general producer of the festival, the 100 films made in 40 countries that will be shown within the festival will bring together more than 50,000 spectators. He said that the Moldovan movie “Arrividerci”, produced by Valeriu Jereghi, will be a relevant example of how world cinematography can become involved in solving serious current problems. An experimental filmmaking workshop will work within the festival. It will involve eight teams of students headed by famous filmmakers from eight countries, including Moldovan producer Valeriu Jereghi. The filming teams will make eight short movies centering on “Love and Music”. They will be screened on the last day of the festival and will be assessed by an international jury. “They have spoken a lot about the Moldovan cinematography during the last few years, owing to Valeriu Jereghi, whose film “Arrividerci” conquered the European spectators and went up in the international rankings. Even if his movie won many prestigious prizes at international film festivals, Valeriu Jereghi does not enjoy support from the state in his projects. We would be honored if Valeriu Jereghi agrees to cooperate with us in implementing his project “Love and War” and to give a picture making course at the Ukrainian cinematography school. We put forward the proposal, but have not yet received an answer,” said Fedor Krat. “I’m not the author of “Arrivederci”. The real authors are those who governed the country for 20 years. We worked together and collected rapturous applause at European cinematography forums,” said Valeriu Jereghi. He also said that he cannot find support for his projects in Moldova, while the Filmmakers Union and the Ministry of Culture are useless in their professional activity as they do not provide assistance to the Moldovan talents. “Given the success achieved by “Arrivederci”, I can ascertain with regret that I am the cinematography in Moldova and if my country cannot exploit my cinematographic talent in its favor, I can say only “Arrivederci,” he stated. A full-length movie titled “Love and Music” will be produced based on the short films under the aegis of the Kiev International Film Festival. The festival will take place in Saint Sofia Market, in the open air. The invitees include U.S. actors Michael Madsen and Mark Dacascos.
