The Orthodox Church of Moldova condemns the violent acts committed in the Great National Assembly Square on April 7 on the Annunciation, which is an important feast in Lent, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“No one works on the Annunciation and no bird makes nests on this day. Though we are an Orthodox country and we call ourselves Christians, we often forget about God and therefore experience unpleasant situations in the society,” Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, His Holiness Vladimir told a news conference on Tuesday, April 14.
The Metropolitan Bishop reiterated the idea that religion should be introduced as subject in schools, proposed by the Orthodox Church in 1993. “If we educate our young people to observe the laws of God, such kinds of events will not happen in our society. Both the State and the Church should pay increased attention to the education of the young generation,” His Holiness Vladimir said.
“Our duty is to pray that God sends wisdom to the political parties, governors and all the people. I have no right to judge one party or another as justice will do this on earth, while God - in heaven.”
