A number of 28 officers of the Moldovan armed forces completed a training course in physical security and management of small arms, light weapons and stockpiles of conventional ammunition. The course was organized with the support of the OSCE, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
“I’m convinced that this project will contribute to reducing the risks for people living near arms depots. By diminishing the risks of proliferation of weapons, we want to contribute to security and stability in the whole region,” said the Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Jennifer Brush.
The officers who completed the course will be able to train other specialists of the armed forces of Moldova, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Justice and other relevant institutions.
The training course was planned for a three-year period. The first module was implemented on March 5-20. The multinational team of trainers included specialists from Austria, Canada, Sweden, and Switzerland.
