A Moldovan aged 24 is suspected of heading a group that organized the illegal migration of Moldovans to the Schengen area.
Olga Baciu, head of the Ministry of the Interior’s press office, has told Info-Prim Neo that the man was arrested last weekend on Vasile Alecsandri St in Chisinau when he was waiting for a client to bring him money.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the suspect worked in complicity with persons from Ukraine and Poland. They legalized Polish work contracts for applicants and obtained Schengen visas with the help of such contracts. Afterward, the accomplices from abroad helped transport the persons to France. For such a trip, the Moldovans paid about €1 000.
The man faces a fine of 10 000 to 16 000 lei or three to five years in prison for organizing illegal migration. The police are taking steps to identify all the persons involved in the illegal acts.
