Moldovan wrestlers win three medals

The Moldovan wrestlers have brought three medals from the 51st international tournament “Dan Kolov - Nikola Petrov” that was held recently in Bulgaria, Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Ciobanu scored the best result. He won gold in the 55kg class in Greek-Romania wrestling. He beat Turkey’s Serif Kilic, North Korea’s Won Chol Yun, and Bulgaria’s Aleksandar Kostadinov. Mariana Esanu won silver. In the final of the 55kg class, she lost to Yarina Dubovska from Azerbaijan, who took the gold. Piotr Ianulov brought a bronze medal to Moldova. He won it in the freestyle wrestling, the 84kg class. Also in freestyle wrestling, Anatol Buruian (55kg) and Alexandr Romanov (120kg) ranked fifth. Moldova was represented by 17 athletes at the competition. The Ministry of Youth and Sport spent over 200,000 lei on the participation of the national squad in the tournament. The best Moldovan sportspersons will compete in the European Championship in Georgia’s Tbilisi on March 19-24.
