Minister Pavel Filip said an eventual memorandum of cooperation between the official Chisinau and the Eurasian Economic Union is inappropriate, while the offering of the status of observer at this Union to Moldova is inopportune. The status of observer can be obtained even if the Government does not ask for this, IPN reports.

The Government’s response to President Igor Dodon’s last week requests was published by the Head of State on a social networking site. According to him, Pavel Filip said the Moldovan authorities will be unable to fulfill the provisions of an eventual memorandum with the Eurasian Economic Union as this runs counter to the Association Agreement signed with the European Union.

“In the Government’s viewpoint, both the signing of the memorandum and the request to grant the status of observer to the EEU are inopportune given that they will not bring palpable economic or political benefits to our country. I think these unreasonable steps can undermine the sociopolitical stability in our county, which is rather fragile,” Pavel Filip says in his response to Igor Dodon.

In reply, President Igor Dodon on a social networking site wrote that the memorandum of cooperation between Moldova and the Eurasian Economic Union will be yet signed.
