The case against the head of the Control and Revision Division of the state-run company Moldova’s Railways was sent to court. The functionary was arrested a month ago, being accused of traffic of influence, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Anticorruption Center.

The man asked for US$1,000 from a person for hiring him, by transfer, as conductor on a train running on long routes. The arrest was made on the territory of the Chisinau Railway Terminal, in the functionary’s office. The man yielded up the money to the prosecution officers.

The functionary had been in the custody of the National Anticorruption Center for 72 hours and was then placed under house arrest. He faces a fine of 10,000 to 30,000 lei or up to five years’ imprisonment.
