SA Moldtelecom informs that it will conduct an internal inquiry to verify the accusations of corruption made against an employee of the company. If evidence is found, the company will dismiss the employees involved and will make effort to clarify the situation, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a press statement, the national telecoms carrier says this case should be investigated by the competent bodies, but the presumption of innocence must be respected until the suspects’ guilt is proven. According to the company, the presentation of the videos may form part of a special plan aimed at discrediting the institution, organized by those who pursue certain goals in this sector of the economy. Moldtelecom director general Vitalie Iurcu is now abroad as part of a delegation of businessmen accompanying Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who is paying an official visit to Germany. He was informed about the accusations made against the employee of the company. In a news conference on May 19, the Civil Society Congress presented videos showing, according to the organization’s chairman Fiodor Ghelici, an employee of the law division of the national telecoms carrier, who would have taken bribe from the director of a limited liability company that had contractual relations with Moldtelecom.
