Monument profaned in Falesti

The Falesti memorial complex erected in memory of two veterans of the Nistru war was profaned on the night of July 28. The National Union of Independence War Veterans demands that the authorities hold the authors accountable, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Union of Independence War Veterans considers that these acts are a blow to the independence of the Moldovan state and to those who lost their lives while struggling for the country’s independence. We vehemently condemn these actions committed before the anniversary of 20 years of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence,” the Union says in a statement. The Union’s members voice hope that the law enforcement bodies will identify those who profaned the monument and will hold them responsible in accordance with the law. The memorial complex in Falesti was built in memory of Anatol Tataru and Iuric Orbu, who took part in the 1992 War for Defending the Territorial Integrity of the Country.
