The monument to victims of the Stalinist repression will be brought to Chisinau from Minsk in two months. The works are executed according to plan. Buy July 1, the monument will be placed in the square of the Railway Terminal in Chisinau, IPN reports.
In the April 15 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Roman Sofroni, head of the Constructions Division, said that he paid a visit to the Minsk plant, where the monument is cast in bronze, being accompanied by the monument’s author Iurie Platon. “We went to analyze the structure and quality of the works and remained satisfied. The works to pave the square and lay out the fountain will start next week. They are now rehabilitating the water pipes and the lighting system,” he stated.
Earlier, Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the area near the moment, between the streets Decebal and Muncesti, be also lit.
The monument to victims of the Stalinist repression will be unveiled on July 6, when the deportees of 1949 are remembered.
