Local action groups (LAGs) will have more flexibility in setting up local partnerships. A draft law to this effect was given a final reading by Parliament, IPN reports.
The legislative initiative was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in partnership with the National LEADER Network.
The document provides for the possibility of including in the LAG rural localities that are part of cities or municipalities with a population of more than 10,000 inhabitants. Only the locality specified in the decision of the local council of the administrative-territorial unit (city or municipality) can be considered part of the LAG.
According to the authors, this project will ensure a constant rural development policy by implementing the LEADER Program in Moldova, both from the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Environment and from the financial means of development partners.
