Income tax receipts collected from individuals who lease out real estate in the first six months of the year amounted to 34.5 million lei. The figure is by 32.5% higher compared to the corresponding period of 2023, IPN reports.
The State Tax Service reminds the individuals who do not carry out entrepreneurial activities and who lease out real estate to other individuals, including through Booking, Airbnb and other platforms, that they need to honor the tax obligations related to the obtained income.
As a result of voluntary compliance and information actions, 1,236 individuals who lease out real estate were identified between January and June 2024.
Also, inspections were carried out on 164 individuals who lease out real estate and the following payments were additionally calculated to the budget: basic payments in the amount of 317,900 lei; late payment increase in the amount of 49,200 lei, and fines totaling 13,400 lei.
As a result of the actions taken in the first six months of 2024, 12,406 real estate leasing contracts were registered, which is by 10.5% more than in the similar period of 2023.
The tax is 7% of the income obtained from leasing out real estate. It must be paid by the 25th date of each month.
