The police put fines of 500 to 1,000 lei on drivers of minibuses running on routes in Chisinau for transporting more passengers than allowed. Uliana Catan, of the Chisinau Traffic Police Division's press office, told Info-Prim Neo that there were fined the drivers who transported 20 to 30 passengers standing. In case of traffic accidents, the risk of the standing passengers receiving injuries is much higher. From Monday, March 15, there will be shared fines for violating other articles of the new regulations governing the transportation of passengers by minibuses, like be respectful with the passengers, be dressed neatly, not to turn on the radio and to stop only at stations. A group of about 250 Internet users on Facebook demand services of a high quality and safety in the private public transport. They say the authorities should more seriously address the issue of converted minibuses and solve this problem.
